Elkins has constructed nine stores for Publix – totaling more than 380,000 SF and $40 million. Typical stores range from 27,000 SF – 54,000 SF and also include retail shops (usually between 30,000 SF – 80,000 SF). The fast pace of retail projects requires close coordination with the owner and subcontractors to prevent any delays. This allows us to ensure the owner’s equipment (freezers, coolers, cases, etc.) will be installed with minimal rework. Most stores include a full service bakery, deli, meat department with specialized meat coolers and meat preparation stations, a produce department, and pharmacy.
